Launch of the New Adoption Support Plan England (2025)

We’re excited to announce the launch of the new Adoption Support Plan (ASP) England (2025), developed by CoramBAAF to strengthen adoption support. This updated plan, along with guidance for social workers, Independent Reviewing Officers (IROs), and adopters, builds on previous work and reflects valuable input from the sector.

The new ASP has been shaped by real-world feedback, including pilot testing with five Regional Adoption Agencies (RAAs) throughout 2024, consultations with Adoption UK, and insights from CoramBAAF forums. A huge thank you to everyone who contributed and helped refine this important resource.

Sarah Johal MBE, our Strategic Lead said:
“An adoption support plan is so important for children and their families. This plan has been developed across the sector with views from families and Adoption England, and I’m really delighted to see this being available for practitioners, with briefings to support its implementation.”

The updated ASP is fully compliant with legal and statutory requirements and is designed to be used at key stages of the adoption journey:

  • During matching
  • When reviewing the placement before the Adoption Order
  • As a foundation for future adoption assessments post-order
